Or better yet attempted to watch this film.  This movie made no sense, had no soul, and basis for being made. This normally would kill a career of the lead, but I watch Mike and Molly and find Melissa McCarthy hysterical on the show.   McCarthy plays Tammy, a slob of a woman, who loses her job and husband in the same day.

I have no idea why McCarthy would agree to do a movie about such an irritating character.  The jokes are flat and there is no flow at all from joke (not really a joke if you don’t laugh) to joke.   The films feels like a series of unfunny ten minute sketches strung together.

Susan Sarandon co-stars as Tammy’s grandmother, Pearl.  Pearl and Tammy end up taking a road trip together and end up in very unfunny situations.  This pairing of two excellent actresses should result in exceptional comedic timing with one another.   This never happens and it really is apparent that there is no chemistry between the two.

This movie also wastes the talents of Kathy Bates, Allison Janney, Dan Aykroyd, Gary Cole, Gary Cole, Toni Collette, and Sandra Oh.

0 stars – NOT a Hitting a Mark recommendation.
